You’ll get the most peace of mind if your loved one is wearing the Tranquil Watch as much as possible. The long battery life means they can leave the watch on overnight if they’d like, but the key thing is to make sure that they’re wearing it when they’re out and about.
We send two options free with the watch, a leather strap and a silicone locking strap. However, we also offer other options if they’re not suitable.
Basic Locking Strap
This strap comes free with your watch. If the user keeps forgetting to put it on, it’s worth considering attaching the basic locking strap.
Leather Locking Strap
The leather locking strap is a perfect combination of comfort and peace of mind. If you’re interested in purchasing the locking strap, click this link.Â
Metal Watch Band
If your loved one is used to a metal watch band or enjoys a more polished look, our matching metal bands are a great option to explore. They add a refined finish to the watch and come in black, black and silver, and rose gold, allowing you to choose the style that best suits their taste.
Many people choose these for their loved ones as a stylish alternative strap. The refined appearance often becomes a favourite, making the wearer want to keep it on for every occasion.
Other Watch Strap Options
We understand that the locking strap and leather strap might not cover every wearer’s preferences. Most wearers will be more receptive if you can find a strap that they’re used to.Â
It’s worth noting that every watch has 22mm spring bar pins. Any watch strap that uses 22mm pins can be attached to it.Â
Remember, although the device is a watch, it does not have to be placed on the user’s wrist. If you remove the strap from the timepiece, you can then place the timepiece in a bag or pocket. Some users have also had success attaching this converter to the watch and putting it on a keyring.
Potential Issues & Answers
The Watch Is Uncomfortable
Try loosening or tightening the strap depending on what the wearer feels is better for them.Â
If the user has another watch that they have found comfortable in the past, you could also attach their watch strap to the Tranquil Watch (provided it attaches uses spring bars).
If this persists, please take a look at our other strap options and our Keyring Attachment below.
They Refuse To Wear It
If the user does not want to wear it at first, don’t give up! Remember, you have 30 days from delivery to determine if the Tranquil Watch is suitable for them.Â
Sometimes, it is simply not a good time to introduce something new to someone with dementia and reintroducing the watch at a later time with a more positive frame will often get better results.
If the user is determined to not wear a watch full stop, it might be worth trying the keyring attachment that we provide with each watch kit.Â
They Keep Forgetting To Put It On
Remember that the Tranquil Watch can be charged fully and does not need another charge for 7 days. The device can be left on overnight if necessary.Â
Try and build it into the routine, e.g putting it on as they get up in the morning, or as they get dressed or have breakfast.Â
If the user is constantly taking the device off and forgetting to put it back on, it might be worth trying the silicone locking strap using the instructions above.Â
They Don't Want To Wear A Tracking Watch
If the user is independence focussed or looking for reassurance, tell them that it’ll help them go out on their own without others worrying about their safety.
If they don’t like the look of the watch, positively reinforce the watch and tell them that it looks smart on them!
